    Frequently asked questions

Is the TextSpell Chrome extension free?

Yes. Install it and sign in with a free TextSpell account to get 500 free words. If you need more, paid plans add 5,000 words a month or unlimited words, in the extension and on the website.

Do I need a TextSpell account?

Yes, a free account is needed so your words and history are saved. Signing in takes a few seconds with Google or your email, and no credit card is required.

Which websites does it work on?

It works on most websites where you can select text, such as Gmail, Outlook on the web, LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Reddit. A few web apps, like Google Docs, replace Chrome's right-click menu with their own, so the TextSpell menu doesn't appear there. Copy the text into TextSpell on the web instead.

Does the extension read the pages I visit?

No. It only sees the text you select and send to TextSpell from the right-click menu. It asks for just two Chrome permissions: adding a right-click menu item and saving your sign-in.

    Is it a Grammarly alternative?

TextSpell works differently: instead of underlining as you type, you select text and choose what to do with it. Besides grammar fixes, it can paraphrase, simplify, humanize AI text and write replies, all from one menu.

Does it work in Microsoft Edge or Brave?

Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store, so TextSpell works there too.
